The programme emerged from the 3-year Diploma programme in Mine surveying, a programme run by the then School of Mines to train students to offer surveying services for the Mining and Allied companies. The focus of the programme was extended to incorporate current technologies and techniques of solving most problems related to geospatial information. The 4-year BSc programme started in 2000 with the first batch of 18 students admitted to pursue the programme. The programme has up to date produced graduates who are contributing positively in the various field of Geomatics, engineering, education, science, finance and other sectors in Ghana and beyond. In order to provide a pathway for the graduates to further develop themselves, other postgraduate programmes have since been introduced.
